Moo Moo

I went to TJMaxx for a new Duvet Cover. Well I was there I passed a BCBG dress, retailing for $118, discounted to $40. Cute little cap sleeve bubble-esque frock. Green and cream, with that asian inspired pattern of big leaves that Crate and Barrell loves. Cute cute.

Hey, I read Star, I see Lindsay Lohen. The Bubble Dress is back. Forget Twiggy, you can be fat now and still "rock" the look (as the kids say). Nevermind that I look like my Aunt Donata circa 1974.

I try it on. I look big. I am big. I'm 20lbs heavier. But I glimpse the promise of what the dress could be. A walk in Newburyport. A Mommy & Me Music Class. A drink in Fanuel Hall. Holding matching baby. It's cute. In a mu mu retro way.

I walk to the salesgal and various sundry in line try-er on-ers.
Look at all.
"Does this look like a mumu?"
resounding "YES"
"Can I wear it anyway"
for the most part "yes"

The salesgirl says "It looks too big"
I say "I'm not sure. I'm afraid to go smaller" pause, then I add, somewhat defensively because Ellie is not with me and I feel like I need to justify my swinging arm flab... "I just had a baby and I'm not really sure what size I am"
Salesgirl "Oh you did, when?"
Me: "Well, I mean, not "just",. She's 10 weeks old."
Salesgirl "Good for you. That's the way to do it. Take it off slow."
