Birthday Goals... A Look Back on what was important to me in 2005

6.12.06 Happy Anniversary , 33rd birthday!
So, every year I think it's a good time to state some birthday goals. Sort of a new years resolution but New Year for me. Given that the anniversary of my 33rd birthday rolled around again, I thought I'd revisit my LAST year’s goals.

BIRTHDAY GOALS JUNE 2005
1. 20 push ups per day
2. Go OUT at least once a week
3. Call each family member once per week
4. Buy gifts for celebrations ON TIME!
5. Keep house visitor friendly
6. do (1) condo outreach each week

So, how'd I do?

1. 20 push ups per day
Apparently this was the beginning of my "I need to get in shape, and THIS time, I mean it." goal. I'm fairly certain I did well for about two to three months on this, then backslid, then started again in February. I am currently NOT doing pushups so this is a:
PASS
FAIL(X)

2. Go OUT at least once a week
Apparently this was the beginning of my "I need to get a life” stage, go out, be amongst friends, have a “sex in the city” swingle life instead of being a boring grind. I think as a byproduct I was going to date like a crazy woman and meet Nice Men who would Take Me Places and DO things With Me. (Outside things) I did horrible on this one. Never called people, never responded to voicemails. Never went out. Oh sure, I tried for about a week but then I moved, met Doug, and reverted to my "stay home and get organized" self. My “let me finish this one more thing” self. So on this one I give myself a big
PASS
FAIL(X)
(as a side benefit I DID go out and meet Doug so I give myself a PASS for overall achievement)

3. Call each family member once per week
So far so good. I DID call most everyone at the beginning, although Tony and I got down to once every two to three weeks – but then, there’s only so much one can talk about with ones far away brother. I admit that towards the end, I also backslid on this one but OVERALL, I did keep in touch better then years prior, so I give myself a
PASS(X)
FAIL

4. Buy gifts for celebrations ON TIME!
This one was SO easy. I stopped going out, stopped calling people back, lost friends, so I didn’t get invited to anything thus DIDN”T HAVE TO BUY GIFTS!!!! Whoo hoo.

Ok, not strictly true, but funny, no? I did ok on this one. Had gifts on time but only because I ran around like a mad woman at the last minute driving to said event. Since it caused more stress, then good, I give myself a
PASS
COMPLETED (X)
FAIL

5. Keep house visitor friendlY
HA HA HA hhaaa hahahah whooo whoo hee ha HAA hahahahah HAAA HAH HAA HEEE hee whoo ha ha HOOOO ho hoo hee ha ha hee hoo hoo

6. do (1) condo outreach each week
Ah yes, the great house hunt. God I miss those days of high hopes. Well, I did “outreach”, I was diligent, and I DID buy a house. . .right before the market tanked so the sellers got a GREAT price – so yes, I get a PASS on this one but clearly recognize that an F might have been better!
PASS (X)
FAIL

So, all and all I achieved 2 out of my 6 goals. 33% success rate.
Sigh.
Birthday goals are TOUGH!
